Gum diseases are common to both adults and children. However, studies have shown that the existence of harmful or destructive gum disease such as periodontitis is lower to children than adults. Periodontitis is the inflammation of the gum tissues. This also results to loosening of tooth of the patient if the gum disease is untreated. The supporting bones and tissues get too weak to hold the affected tooth.

Epidemiologist conducted surveys all over the world to complete their study periodontal disease on children. In their survey, it shows that the periodontal attachment and supporting bone is fairly unusual in the young increases in when they get a little older aged 12 to 17 as compared to children aged 5 to 11. Nevertheless, parents should ensure that they follow a regular dentist check up for their children. This is to ensure that the kids are gum disease free.

Gum diseases no matter what stage is a traumatic experience to patients most especially to children. Children love to eat sweets such as candies and lollipops. Seeing them grumble in plain because of toothache or gum problem is a sight unbearable to most parents. Thus, as parents, you want to alleviate them with the pain they are going through. Initial reaction would be letting them drink over the counter medicines just to relieve them of the pain. Nonetheless, children are very fragile to medicine intake. This has to pass through a dentist’s prescription; making sure that the medicine best fit the child’s age.

Studies have shown that adults over 40 and pregnant women are more prone to gum diseases. And treatments are available for both. Only those women who are pregnant are under special cases especially on the medicines that they take. Once they are diagnose with gum disease they have to treat as early as possible because this can affect their date of delivery and their unborn child.

There are at least two widely know treatments for periodontitist. The first periodontal disease treatment is the periodontal surgery. This procedure is done to reposition bones and remove affect tissues in patient’s gums. This is to ensure that after the surgery the affected area are clean from bad bacteria. The second periodontal disease treatment is the scaling and root planing. These two are the conventional way of treating periodontitis through deep cleaning. These procedures are considered as an initial process for a gum surgery.

A periodontal disease does not only exist as if it were just some instant happening. Instead, this form of disease stems from the severity of milder oral health problems that most of its victims fail to notice. This article will discuss how periodontal disease comes into what it is now. Tracking down its history will help us know and figure out what to do in order to resolve this dental health problem. Also, this article will focus on some important things that one can do to prevent this disease from coming back.

Before a periodontal disease becomes one, it starts out as a condition that is known as gingivitis. Gingivitis is considered the milder form of periodontal disease. Basically, gingivitis can be described as a condition wherein the gums are infected. This infection is caused by the growth of plaque and tartar inside one’s oral cavity. Plaque can be accumulated if food particles are not thoroughly removed inside the mouth. They tend to develop into bacteria and that is where the problem starts to spread. Tartar is also the result of food particles that were not eradicated in the soonest time.

Thus, it would be safe to say that periodontal disease would only exist if there is gingivitis. In that sense, we would also be able to say that if we get rid of gingivitis, there would be no further dental problems that one has to endure. Though it may sound easy and attainable, there is one roadblock in making this happen. Gingivitis is known to be a very sneaky and discrete problem. One would not be able to feel that he or she is experiencing it when it is still mild. With that, it is important to take note of some syndromes that could indicate if gingivitis is already taking place inside your mouth.

If there are cases when your gums tend to bleed whenever you brush your teeth, then be very alarmed. That does not necessarily imply that you were just brushing with too much force. It could mean that your gums are starting to get weak and infected that is why the smallest contact would lead to instant bleeding. The simple bleeding of the gums can already equate to gingivitis. The changing of the color of your gums would also be a symptom that you should be wary of. Normally, the gums have a pinkish hue. When it starts to change its color, better consult your dentist as it might be something else.

Since gingivitis is something that is very difficult to track, one might end up suffering from periodontal disease instead. If this happens, then your dentist would be the first person that you should run to. He or she will provide you with the necessary medication for the healing of your dental problem. Aside from your consultations with the dentist, you might also need to change your ways in terms of oral hygiene. By being more committed on the things that do good on your mouth, gingivitis, periodontal disease, or any other oral health problems will be a smile away.
